SDG 2 Global Issues

1. Yemen is facing a crisis where over 3 million people are homeless, with poverty affecting nearly 78% of the population. This situation has led to a significant lack of essential resources like water, healthcare, and food in the country, contributing to one of the world's largest humanitarian crises.

2. In countries like Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia these regions have been severely affected by climate change, leading to extreme weather events like droughts. The lack of rainfall in these areas has reached unprecedented levels, with four consecutive failed rainy seasons, making it the worst drought in at least 70 years. This has resulted in a significant portion of the population in Somalia being classified as food insecure, with experts warning of the potential emergence of famine in several districts without urgent humanitarian assistance

What Actions can you take?

1. Don’t waste food. Freeze fresh produce and leftovers if you don’t have the chance to eat them before they go bad.

2. Consume less meat and become vegetarian for one day a week. The meat production industry has a huge impact on the environment.

3. Buy Funny Fruit—many fruits and vegetables are thrown out because their size, shape, or color are not “right”. Buying these perfectly good funny fruit, utilizes food that might otherwise go to waste.

ENDING POVERTY. FOREVER.
